Hamilton Southeastern High School offers over 250 different classes, many of which are often overlooked. With so many options available, there are opportunities students may not even know exist. Courses are available for several types of credit, including honors, AP, and dual credit classes that allow students to earn college credit while still in high school. From Agriculture and Biomedical Science to Performing Arts and Media, students can explore interests that match their future career goals. If you are looking to discover some unknown classes, here are five to learn more about. 

1. Plant and Soil Science
   Plant and Soil Science gives students a hands-on opportunity to explore how plants grow and how soil supports plant life. Through activities like growing plants, testing soil, and working with greenhouse materials, students gain real-world experience in agriculture and environmental science. This class is a greatoption for students interested in farming, sustainability, or careers in environmental and agricultural sciences. 
2. Meteorology
   Meteorology allows students to study weather and understand the science behind everyday weather conditions. Students learn about atmospheric processes, weather patterns, and how meteorologists predict storms and other weather events using tools like radar and satellites. Students also have the opportunity to appear on HSE News to practice presenting weather forecasts and develop on-camera communication skills. 
3. Film Studies
   Film Studies explores how stories from literature are adapted into movies and other forms of media. Students learn about the history of film, analyze scenes, and compare films to the books they are based on. The course helps students understand how visual techniques such as camera angles, sound, and editing contribute to storytellingand also serves as a prerequisite for Film Studio. 
4. Acting I
   Acting I helps students build confidence, creativity, and communication skills through performance. Students participate in improvisation, scene writing, and movement exercises while learning how actors use voice, expression, and body language to bring characters to life. The class provides a supportive environment where students can collaborate and explore the world of theatre. 
5. Zoology
   Zoology offers an in-depth look at the animal kingdom and how animals live and interact with their environments. Students study both vertebrates and invertebrates while learning about animal structures, adaptations, and classification. Hands-on activities such as dissections, microscope work, and live animal observations help students better understand animal biology and ecosystems.
