Chances are, if you’ve been to any unified sports games at Hamilton Southeastern High School you have seen the cheering section, wearing outfits for whatever the theme of the game is, holding signs, creating an overall positive and energetic environment. This cheering section is known as Royal Uproar.
Royal Uproar is a new and upcoming club at Hamilton Southeastern High School that provides unique experiences that truly set it apart from the other clubs at HSE. Royal Uproar, simply put, is the cheering section for the unified sports teams and other activities. The members of the club design fun themes like you would see in any student section at a sporting event, like their recent Hawaiian and tie dye games. During the club meetings, usually held during pathways, members make signs to entertain and to bring their themes to life during the games. During the unified games, the signs and accessories help create a positive cheering atmosphere.
Founded by Junior class president Izzy Holle, this club was created with student experience in mind.
“Royal Uproar was created to be a fun club that just about anyone can get involved in whether it’s your first club here at HSE or your 5th, we accept all members and I truly think anyone can enjoy our events,” Izzy remarks, “It’s also very low commitment which I think makes it not only fun to get involved in but also fairly easy compared to some other clubs”.
Being a Varsity Cheerleader at HSE, Izzy knows a thing or two about cheering on a team.
“Obviously sports like Football, Volleyball, and Soccer usually get big fan sections and I was noticing that the unified sports weren’t getting the same support. So, I got to thinking about if there was anything I could do to change that, because as a cheerleader, I know how far having some fans can help create momentum and make events more fun,” Izzy explains.
This club is also super accessible and fun to get involved with for people who are looking for something they can do with their friends that doesn’t take up a huge time commitment but still has the community aspect of any other club.
“I joined Royal Uproar this year and so far, it has been super fun and definitely an easy club to get involved in.” says Sophomore Sophie Schlueter.
The positive effects of Royal Uproar within unified activities have already been monumental and as it grows, it continues to have a positive effect at Hamilton Southeastern High School. Since this club was founded just May of last school year, there is still so much in store for this Royal Uproar and so much room for it to expand on the great things it is already doing.
