The past week, the senior class officers hosted the annual senior week for the class of 2025. The week consisted of different spirit days, senior pranks, sunrises, breakfast and senior signing day. This week is a time that all seniors look forward to the whole year, a celebration just for their class, to congratulate all their hard work and accomplishments throughout the year.
“Senior week is so important,” senior class officer Katie Follis said. “It helps to wrap up the year with fun and helps bring the senior class together.”
Spirit Days:
Not only has senior week been full of fun activities, but it has also been full of different spirit days. The spirit days have consisted of senior citizen dress up, kindergarten photo, post-secondary wear, blue out and senior jerseys.
“My favorite part of senior week was the spirit days,” Follis said. “Everyone really went all out and it was fun to dress up crazy one last time!”
Senior Pranks:
This week has been filled with seniors keeping the underclassmen on their toes as the class of 2025 officers plan and execute multiple different pranks. The week started off on Thursday, May 15 with a hot dog eating contest in the middle of the flag hallway which crowned Evan Lawhead as the champion after he ate eight hot dogs. Then on Friday, seniors were posted at the entrances of the school and giving underclassman a “TSA” experience by going through their backpacks and belongings before entering the school. On Monday, there was a wedding hosted in the flag hallway where seniors posed as a groom, bride, bridesmaid and groomsmen, walking down the aisle where Kaylan Hoener and Kevin Baker were happily married at the end. On Tuesday, seniors let loose people dressed in gorilla costumes for others to try to “capture”. If one were to find a gorilla, they would take a picture with it and get credit for capturing that gorilla. For the last day of pranks on Wednesday, seniors would make their way around the school to different classrooms and would give students a riddle that they were required to answer to enter/exit the classroom.
Senior Sunrise:
The Senior Sunrise is a tradition that has been a part of HSE for many years. It is a fun time where seniors dress up in their post-secondary wear and meet early in the morning on the football field together to watch the sunset and take pictures with each other. This is a fun time for seniors to collaborate together and spend time with each other before the end of their senior year.
Senior Signing Day:
Senior Signing Day is one of the most exciting days for seniors, filled with so many different and fun activities for them to participate in. From giveaways, foam parties and games to Slip N’ Slides, bounce houses and a Twisters Soda truck, this day had it all. Seniors were able to skip school this day to enjoy these activities outside all day long. This was a really fun way to celebrate the seniors and have them get together one last time.
