When I first walked down 116th Street in Fishers, I wasn’t expecting to find much more than the usual mix of restaurants. But then I saw this bright orange sign that read BIBIBOP Asian Grill. It looked clean, modern and kind of peaceful in a way that made me stop.
As soon as I stepped in, the smell hit me: warm rice, sesame oil, grilled chicken and something spicy in the air. Everything about the place felt light and fresh, from the colors on the walls to the rows of perfectly cut vegetables lined up behind the counter. It was the kind of spot that made me want to pull out my camera, colorful, balanced, and oddly calming.
Later I learned that BIBIBOP started in Columbus, Ohio, back in 2013. The founder, Charley Shin, had been inspired by a Korean dish called bibimbap, which means “mixed rice.” His goal was to make something simple but meaningful, food that felt healthy, customizable, and full of life. And that made sense, because BIBIBOP’s slogan is literally about well-being.
The Fishers location opened in October 2020, right in the middle of everything that year threw at us. It sits in The Yard at Fishers, a district that’s become one of my favorite places to hang out. It makes sense why BIBIBOP chose this area.
The thing I love most about this place is the way it fuels my body. All the options on the menu are gluten free which makes for easy ordering for those who have dietary restrictions.
My favorite item is the steak and noodles bowl. The food has a burst of flavor and fuels your body right, I love how I feel after eating the food. My body feels nourished and energized so I’m ready for the day. It has quickly become one of my favorite healthy go tos.
If you know you need to fuel your body right, I highly recommend stopping by Bibibop.
