Every Thursday, as the last school bell rings, room J-226 transforms into an arena where students shuffle through decks, roll dice, and exchange friendly challenges. The Board Game Club, once a packed hive of gamers, finds itself rebuilding, eager to attract newcomers looking for a relaxed spot to unwind, play games, and make friends. At the heart of the club is a closet brimming with over 175 board games.  

Shelves are stocked with classics like Monopoly, Risk, and Jenga, sitting alongside modern favorites such as Wingspan, Pandemic, and Disney’s Villainous. This diverse collection invites students to stop by for casual fun or dive into long, strategic marathons. Members are encouraged to share their own favorite games with the club. Thursday meetings last until 4:45 p.m.  

The routine is simple: come in, check out the game closet, claim a seat with friends, or join an existing group. The laid-back atmosphere welcomes newcomers, while an ever-changing assortment of games promises something new each week. Some sessions are high-energy competitions; others focus on quirky games that spark laughter as much as strategy. In the past, the club has hosted after-dark marathons devoted to long, complex games. Those evenings underscored that the club is about more than rolling dice; it’s about community.  

Although attendance has dipped lately, the sponsor Mr. Squires, is eager to rekindle that sense of belonging and welcome a new generation of members. The real magic of Board Game Club lies in the energy around the table. With every roll, card flip, and clever move, sparks of fun, teamwork, and discovery fly. Strangers become teammates, and longtime friends become spirited rivals. Whether a strategist or just looking for fun after school, Board Game Club has something for you.
