HSE High School is full of opportunities to get involved in and clubs contributes a large amount to these opportunities, but not all clubs get the same spotlight. Beyond the larger clubs like Make A Wish or Ping Pong club there are many smaller clubs that you may have never heard of. These hidden gems give students a chance to meet new people, try something new, and discover talents they may have not known they had. So here’s five different clubs you might have not known existed but are definitely worth checking out.
First Royals for Jesus club is a bible study club open to any student who wants to grow closer to Jesus. This club is open to all no matter what stage or relationship they have with Jesus. This club focuses on each and every one of their club members walk with Jesus. Mrs. Goldsberry, the club sponsor had this to say about the club, “I love to see the passion and excitement that these students have to share and connect with their peers.” Mrs. Goldsberry states “They are an inspiring group!”
Secondly Theory club is a club based on creating wild and entertaining theories. During their meetings they develop theories and create PowerPoint slideshows to present to their fellow members about these theories. Mrs. Suriano the club sponsor had this to say about her favorite part of the club, “My favorite part about the club is hearing the wild theories the students come up with.” Mrs. Suriano states “They are often quite entertaining.”
Thirdly Sleep club is a group dedicated to teaching members about the importance of sleep through education community service and fun activities! Some events they have planned for the year are a local bedding drive and online competitions over sleep science. They also will have other fun activities like watching movies. Maimoona Hasanuddin the club president had this to say about the club, “My favorite part about the club is its commitment to education and making a positive impact while still being grounded in having fun”
Fourthly Knitting and Crocheting club is a causal club focused on having fun and crocheting. Members are able to make whatever they please and supplies are provided for the members! Mrs. Strawhacker the club sponsor had this to say about her favorite part of the club “My favorite part about the club is that it welcomes those who love working with yarn and who are wanting to learn.”
Finally Fossil club is a club for people who like dinosaurs ancient life and fossils. They share fossils they have collected, watch videos about prehistoric creatures and have even had a real paleontologist share his fossils before! Mrs Cole the club sponsor had this to say about her favorite part of the club, “My favorite part about the club is seeing how much everyone likes fossils!”
