As the 2025-26 school year kicks off, so does football season. The Blue Crew senior leaders are committed to fostering school spirit and including everyone at HSE in team traditions, so they created new ways to promote engagement at the football games.
“Everyone in the school is a member of Blue Crew,” senior Blue Crew leader Greta Lambert said. “The leaders are here to support students and encourage others to show up and show out for their classmates.”
To achieve maximum participation in the student section, Blue Crew members have been researching the most popular costumes and themes for football games.
“We get our inspiration mostly from social media,” Blue Crew senior leader Reagan Kurcinka said. “We have been planning the game themes since our team leadership conference in July, and some themes that we expect to be popular this year are country (for the Homecoming game on October 3) and frat wear (for the game on September 19). We also have some special themes that we are saving for the playoffs!”
This season, Blue Crew is raising the bar for school spirit with a new incentive.
“Every game will have a best-dressed contest, with some great prizes for the winners,” Kurcinka said. “We are looking for students who go all out and commit to the theme.”
According to @hsebluecrew26, Blue Crew’s official Instagram page, the prizes will be $25 gift cards to the Fan Stand.
There will also be some competitions during the games that will involve crowd participation.
“We are planning on having a chicken nugget-eating competition at our home game against the Avon Orioles,” Kurcinka said.
By incorporating the costume contests and interaction with the student section, Blue Crew’s goal is to create a fun and entertaining atmosphere at every football game.
“I feel so much pride when I see a sea of blue in the student section,” senior leader Maya Patel said. “I love seeing everyone fully embrace being a Royal.”
